The Pearl in GT Quarter One
Just wanted to comment on how excited I am to be focusing on The Pearl, by John Steinbeck this term. We will be using the Hobbit as a supplemental text later on in October. The text fits in nicely with the theme of a protagonist on a journey and it also fits into the folk tale or myth genre. For all of those students who were excited about the Hobbit I would strongly urge you to use the book as your independent reading book for the first quarter.
That was for my GT students. Now for an entire 8th grade announcement. Don’t forget the creative writing club starts next week and boy am I excited! We will be reading great stories and writing them as well. We will share great poetry and write it as well. Great work so far- I love the effort that I am seeing in class. Keep it up everyone!
